We understand that a necessary step towards reducing health disparities is to correct institutional policies and practices that may propagate them, and to create equity driven policies aimed at reducing health disparities. The Division advises on current and new policy and practices, while making new policy recommendations based on an understanding of local context.
Activities
Birth Equity Strategic Taskforce
In order to meet recommendations set by the Birth Equity Assessment, a multi-disciplinary group was created with the aim of providing recommendations and best practices for advancing birth equity policy and practice as well as creating a hub of resource and opportunity.
Maternity Hospital Quality Improvement Network
The Division will work in collaboration with the Department of Health, Nursing and Hospital Administration to oversee and implement the Maternity Hospital Quality Improvement initiative.
